Trend Micro may need extra time to scan a large file. But don't worry, there's a simple solution.

What Should I Do Next?

If your scan is still running after two minutes, follow these steps:

  1. Wait for 5 minutes to allow the program to finish scanning the file.
  2. If the error persists, try restarting Trend Micro:
    1. Press the Windows and R keys on your keyboard to open the Run window.
    2. In the Open field, type supporttool.exe, then click OK.
    3. Click Yes when the User Account Control window appears. The Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit will open.
    4. Click the (C) Uninstall tab.
    5. Click 5. Stop all components.
    6. Wait for 10-30 seconds or until the Trend Micro icon Trend Micro icon in the taskbar notification area disappears.
    7. Click Start all components to turn it back on.
    8. Try scanning again.
  3. If the problem continues, try deleting temporary files on your device.
    1. Press the Windows and R keys on your keyboard to open the Run window.
    2. Type in %temp% in the Run window.
    3. Delete all files in the temp folder.
    4. Try scanning again.
