Learn how to temporarily disable Trend Micro Security components on your computer, but remember that doing so may leave your computer vulnerable to online threats. Stay protected by keeping your security program enabled.
Disable Trend Micro from the System Tray
- Check the bottom right corner of your screen, in the taskbar notification area.
- Right-click the Trend Micro icon
to open it. If you can't see it, click the tiny arrow (^) next to the notification area to reveal hidden icons.
- Select Exit.
- Wait until the Trend Micro icon disappears on the system tray.
Disable Trend Micro using the Diagnostic Toolkit
- Press the Windows and R keys on your keyboard to open the Run window.
- In the Open field, type supporttool.exe, then click OK.
- Click Yes when the User Account Control Window appears.
The Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit will open.
- Click the (C) Uninstall tab.
- Click 5. Stop all components.
- Wait for 10 seconds or the Trend Micro icon
Why Do I Need to Disable Trend Micro?
- You need to check if Trend Micro is causing an issue on your computer.
- You need to run a hotfix to resolve an ongoing Trend Micro program issue.
To turn it back ON, open the Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit again, then go to (C) Uninstall > 4. Start all components.
