Know how to check and monitor phone mobile data usage on your Android device.

Data Usage helps you monitor how much Internet data you use from your cellular, roaming, or Wi-Fi services. It can help you avoid extra charges by letting you know if you have exceeded or will soon exceed your data plan limits. This feature does not prevent you from making or receiving phone calls, nor does it affect Wi-Fi connections.

What is mobile data?

Mobile data allows your phone to access the Internet, even when not connected to Wi-Fi. If there is no Wi-Fi in your location, you need to rely on the mobile data network to browse the web or to check your social media.

What phone activities consume mobile data?

Below are some of the activities that consume mobile data:

  • Browsing the Internet
  • Downloading and running apps
  • Checking emails
  • Posting on social media
  • Playing games
  • Video streaming
  • Audio and music streaming

How to track mobile data usage

  1. On your device, open Settings.
  2. From the list, search for Data Usage, then tap it.
  3. It will display the total amount of data consumed, a list of apps that consume data, and other information.

Viewing data usage may vary depending on the device model and brand.
