If the Trend Micro Mobile Security app is asking you to grant Accessibility permission — or if your phone showed a warning when you tried — this guide explains exactly what to do and why this permission is safe.

Why Does Trend Micro Need This Permission?

Trend Micro Mobile Security uses Accessibility permission to scan websites and apps for threats while you browse and use your phone. Without it, the app can't check links in real time or warn you before you visit a dangerous site.

Think of it like giving a security guard permission to check who's coming through the door — it's how Trend Micro keeps an eye on things in the background to protect you.

🔔 About That Warning Your Phone Shows

When you turn on Accessibility permission, Android shows a warning that can sound alarming — something like:

"This app can observe your actions, retrieve window content, and perform actions on your behalf."

This is a standard Android warning shown for all apps that use Accessibility services. It's Android's way of making sure you're aware of the permission — not a sign that anything is wrong with Trend Micro.

Trend Micro Mobile Security uses this permission only to scan for malicious websites and apps. It does not record your screen, read your personal messages, or share your data with third parties.

How to Grant Accessibility Permission

You're likely here because the Trend Micro app asked you to enable this permission during setup. Here's how to complete that step:

  1. In the Trend Micro app, tap Next to proceed to the Accessibility settings screen.
🔔 If you see a "Show me how" button — skip it and tap Next instead. The "Show me how" option may take you to a different screen that doesn't complete the setup correctly.

  2. Your phone will open the Accessibility settings page. Look for a list of apps and tap either Installed apps or Downloaded apps — the label depends on your Android version. Both will show you the same list.

  3. Find and tap Trend Micro Mobile Security (or Trend Micro ScamCheck if you're setting up ScamCheck).

  4. Tap the toggle switch to turn the permission ON.

  5. A confirmation pop-up will appear. Tap Allow or OK to confirm.

✅ You'll know it worked when: The toggle shows as turned ON (usually green or blue), and when you return to the Trend Micro app, the Accessibility permission item shows a green checkmark or is no longer flagged as incomplete.

The App Keeps Asking for Accessibility Permission

If the app keeps prompting you to enable Accessibility permission even after you've turned it on, your phone's Battery Saver or Power Saving Mode is likely the cause.

What is Power Saving Mode?
Power Saving Mode is a battery conservation setting that limits what apps can do in the background. When it's active, it can prevent Trend Micro from staying enabled — which is why the app keeps asking for permission again.

How to fix it:

  1. Open Trend Micro Mobile Security.
  2. Tap the Scan button on the main screen.
  3. Tap Things to Fix, then select the Insights tab.
  4. If you see a Run in the Background option, tap Set Up, then tap Allow.

✅ You'll know it worked when: The "Run in the Background" option no longer appears under Things to Fix, and the Accessibility permission prompt stops appearing.

🔔 Don't see "Run in the Background" under Insights?
This option may not appear on all Android devices or versions. If you don't see it, try turning off Battery Saver manually in your phone's Settings → Battery menu, then restart the Trend Micro app.
