You purchased a renewal online or from a retail store but upon activation of your new serial number, the remaining days from your previous serial number was not added to your new serial number.

This happens because a new serial number is a new subscription.

  • If you purchased online, you may have purchased a new subscription instead of renewal or you may have upgraded or downgraded your subscription (e.g., from Antivirus+ to Maximum Security (vice-versa) or from 5-seat to 3-seat license (vice-versa).
  • If you purchased from a retail store, this will automatically be a new subscription since every box of Trend Micro Security has a new serial number.

You prefer to renew online

We recommend that you click the Renew button from your Trend Micro software.

  1. Open the main console of your Trend Micro Security software:
    • Double-click the Trend Micro icon on your desktop.
    • Double-click the Trend Micro icon on your system tray.
  2. Click the expiration date. The Subscription Information window should open.

  3. Click Renew Now.


    You will be directed to the purchase website.
  4. Select any of the following renewal options:
    • 1-year renewal
    • 2-year renewal

    Price should be indicated when you select any renewal option.

  5. Click Buy Now. You will see the Shopping Cart page with a list of your purchases.
  6. Type your information on the fields provided in the Billing & Payment Information page.

    Accepted payment methods for renewal:

    • Credit Card
    • PayPal
    • BPAY
  7. Click I Agree and Continue to confirm your purchase.
  8. Read the End User License Agreement, then click Place Secure Order.

    A page will appear to confirm your successful purchase. You will also receive an Order Confirmation email and your subscription should be extended within 24 to 48 hours. For more information regarding the renewal of the program, refer to this solution: FAQ: Renewals.

You prefer to renew by purchasing from retail stores

  • Since this will be a new subscription, wait until your current subscription expires before changing to your new serial number.
  • Before changing to your new serial number, check the name of the Trend Micro program indicated on the box and the disc if it's the same with the one installed in your computer.
    • If they are the same:
      1. Open Subscription Information window:
        • Using the Trend Micro main console:
          1. Double-click the Trend Micro shortcut icon on your desktop.
          2. Click your program's expiry date.

        • Using the Trend Micro system tray icon:
          1. Right-click the Trend Micro icon in your system tray (near the clock).
          2. Click Check Subscription.
      2. Click Change your serial number.

      3. Enter your new serial number, then click Next.

    • If they're different, insert the disc to change your software to the correct software for the new serial number.
