The following error message appears when you are opening your Trend Micro Vault:

Only the person who installed the software can access the Trend Micro Vault.

"Only the person who installed the software can access the Trend Micro Vault."

This problem might occur because you have changed your user account.


Move Trend Micro Vault Files to new account

  1. On your keyboard, press the Windows Windows logo + E keys. The File Explorer window should appear.
  2. Go to the
    C:\Users\old account\AppData\Local\Trend Micro\
    directory.
  3. Copy the Vault folder and place it to a different location.
  4. Reinstall your Trend Micro program.
  5. Activate your Trend Micro Vault.
  6. Right-click the Trend Micro icon in the system tray (near the clock at the bottom right part of the screen).
  7. Click Exit.
  8. Copy the Vault folder to
    C:\Users\new account\AppData\Local\Trend Micro\Vault
    .
  9. Right-click the Trend Micro icon in the system tray (near the clock at the bottom right part of the screen).
  10. Click Protection Against Viruses & Spyware.
  11. Open your Trend Micro Vault.

    Your files should now be visible inside Trend Micro Vault under your new account.
