Secret Snap automatically captures and saves photos when someone tries to unlock your device or your locked applications. You will also receive the captured photos through notification email. Secret Snap will help you know who took away your device.

This feature also works on App Lock and Uninstall Protection.

Turn ON Secret Snap

  1. Open the Trend Micro Mobile Security app.
  2. On the main screen, tap Lost Device Protection, then tap Secret Snap.
  3. Drag the slider to ON to enable Secret Snap.

Configure Secret Snap

  1. Open the Trend Micro Mobile Security app.
  2. On the main screen, tap Lost Device Protection, then tap Secret Snap.
  3. On the Secret Snap tab, select the settings you want to configure:
    • Incorrect attempts before photo allows you to set the number of failed attempts to unlock/uninstall before it triggers the Secret Snap.
    • Notification email allows you to set an email address to receive the notifications regarding the Secret Snap activities on your mobile device.
    • Secret Snap photos allows you to view the photos taken by the Secret Snap.

I did not receive any email

If you cannot receive the Secret Snap email while testing this feature, the passwords you are trying to put in may not have these standards:

  • Input must have at least 4-dot pattern crossed
  • Input must have at least 4-digit PIN
  • Input must have at least 4 characters

Secret Snap does not work on Android version 8.0 and above. This is due to the Android OS limitation in which the system will not broadcast password failure on screen lock page to the application.

Device manufacturers set certain standards to distinguish failed password attempts. These standards avoid frequent false password alarms. If the input does not match the standards, your device will not consider the input as a failed password attempt. The Secret Snap feature is based on the system’s judgment.
