Helper Tool Required Error in Trend Micro Antivirus on Mac

You may get this message after installing Trend Micro Antivirus on your Mac:

"Helper Tool Required"

Why Did This Happen?

Apple introduced a more secure paradigm for performing tasks with elevated privileges. Without the Helper Tool, Antivirus for Mac cannot launch and scan your computer from threats.

What Should I Do Next?

Install Helper Tool:

1. Click Close.
2. Type your administrator password, and then click Install Helper.

   If you clicked Cancel, just click Try Again and enter your password.

If there is no Helper Tool installed, this pop up will show every time you restart your Mac or reopen Antivirus for Mac.

Helper Tool Popup Did Not Appear

Run the hotfix to force load the helper tool pop-up:

1. Click the link below:

   Download iTIS_110_mac_AFMAgent_hfb_DebugBuild.zip

2. Click the downloaded file to extract the hotfix.
3. Click iTIS_110_mac_AFMAgent_hfb_DebugBuild.app to run the file.
4. Follow the prompts to install the hotfix.
5. Restart your Mac.
