Ads is mostly where websites gets there revenue but it sometimes can be annoying or even malicious.

Here are ways on how you can block them:

Block Ads with Reader Mode

The button appears only if the webpage has an article that Reader can show.

Click the Reader button on the search field.

  1. Set Reader Mode as Default:
    1. Open Safari.
    2. Choose Preferences, then select Reader.
    3. At the bottom of this page you'll see the option: When visiting other websites. Set this to On afterwards Reader will be activated by default on all compatible web pages.
      If you have a website that is already set to default Off then you won't see it in Reader mode.
  2. Configure Reader Mode Settings:
    In Reader, click the Letter button on the search field.

  3. Set Reader Mode on Specific Websites:
    1. Open Safari, then visit the website.
    2. Right click on the search field, then choose Settings for This Website.
    3. Put a tick next to Use Reader when available.

Block Pop Ups in Safari

If you are noticing pop up ads all the time when you are opening your Safari, you can disable them on Safari’s preferences.

  1. Open Preferences.
  2. Select the Websites tab.
  3. Click on the Pop Up Windows option in the left-hand column.
  4. Click on the drop down menu, then make a rule for the website.
  5. Select either Block and Notify, Block, or Allow.
