Boost your security by adding a second layer of protection to your Trend Micro account. Follow this guide to set up two-factor authentication.

Why Use Two-Factor Authentication?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) enhances security by requiring a verification code in addition to your password each time you log in. This code can be received through an app, SMS, or email and changes with each login.

Authentication Options

  • Authenticator App: Use apps like Google Authenticator or Authy to generate codes.
  • Text Message: Receive codes via SMS.
  • Email: Get codes sent to your email address.

Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication

It's recommended to set up at least two methods to ensure access if one fails:

  1. Log into your account at https://account.trendmicro.com/.
  2. Navigate to the Profile tab, then select My Profile.
  3. Access the Two-factor Authentication tab.
  4. Choose and set up your preferred method. Consider adding a second method as a backup.

Text Message Authentication Setup

  1. Select Set Up next to 'Text Message (SMS)'.
  2. Enter your mobile number and select Next.
  3. Enter the confirmation code received via SMS and select Next.
  4. Confirm the setup by selecting Done.

Authenticator App Setup

  1. Select Set Up next to 'Authentication App'.
  2. Follow the prompts to install the app if you haven't yet, or proceed if already installed.
  3. Scan the QR code with your Authenticator App or enter the code manually if the QR scan fails.
  4. Confirm the app is saved by selecting Done.

Email Authentication Setup

  1. Select Set Up next to 'Email Address'.
  2. Enter your email address and select Next.
  3. Enter the confirmation code received via email and select Next.
  4. Confirm the setup by selecting Done.

Updating Your 2FA Settings

  1. Select Manage next to your chosen method.
  2. To make it your default method, select Set as Default.
  3. To change details, select Change and follow the instructions.

Disabling Two-Factor Authentication

  1. Log into your account and navigate to the Two-Factor Authentication tab.
  2. At the top, select Turn Off.
  3. Confirm by entering your password and selecting Turn Off again.

You will receive an email confirming that two-factor authentication has been disabled.
