Boost your security by adding a second layer of protection to your Trend Micro account. Here's a straightforward guide to set it up.

Why Should I Use Two-Factor Authentication?

Two-Factor Authentication, or 2FA, requires a verification code each time you log in, on top of your password. This code can be received via an app, SMS, or email, and it changes every time you sign in.

What Are My Authentication Options?

  • Authenticator App: Generate codes using apps like Google Authenticator or Authy.
  • Text Message: Receive codes via SMS.
  • Email: Get codes sent to your email.

How Do I Set Up Two-Factor Authentication?

We recommend setting up at least two methods of authentication. This ensures you can still access your account if one method encounters issues.

  1. Log into your account at https://account.trendmicro.com/.
  2. Click on the 'Profile' tab.
  3. Choose the 'Two-factor Authentication' tab.
  4. Select and set up your preferred method, and consider adding a second method for redundancy.

Setting Up Text Message Authentication

  1. Click Set Up beside 'Text Message (SMS)'.
  2. Enter your mobile number, then click Next.
  3. Type the confirmation code you receive via text, then click Next.
  4. Click Done once setup is successful.

Setting Up Authenticator App

  1. Click Set Up beside 'Authentication App'.
  2. If you have the app installed, click Yes. If not, click Not Yet and follow the prompts to download it.
  3. Scan the QR code displayed on the setup window with your Authenticator App, then tap Next. If the QR code does not work, click Type a code instead and enter the code manually.
  4. An Authentication App Saved message will appear. Click Done to finish.

Setting Up Email Authentication

  1. Click Set Up beside 'Email Address'.
  2. Enter your email address, then click Next.
  3. Type the confirmation code you receive in your email, then click Next.
  4. Click Done once setup is successful.

How Do I Update My 2FA Settings?

  1. Click Manage next to your chosen authentication method.
  2. To set it as your default, click Set as Default.
  3. To change details, click Change and follow the instructions.

What If My Authenticator App Isn't Working?

If you're having trouble with your Authenticator App, set up a backup method to ensure continued access to your account.

How Can I Disable Two-Factor Authentication?

  1. Log into your account at https://account.trendmicro.com/.
  2. Navigate to the Profile tab and select Two-Factor Authentication.
  3. At the top, click Turn Off.
  4. Confirm by entering your password and clicking Turn Off again.

You will receive an email confirming that Two-Factor Authentication has been disabled.
