Google Smart Speakers make your home smarter, but they can also face issues. Follow this guide for easy setup and troubleshooting of your Google Smart Speakers.
Google Home Mini
Downloading the Google Home App
- Open the App Store or Play Store on your mobile device.
- Search for Google Home app.
- Select Install.
- Select Open.
Setting Up Your Google Home Mini
- Plug in your Google Home Mini Speaker.
- Connect your mobile device to the Wi-Fi network that youâll use for your speaker.
- Open the Google Home app.
- Tap the Plus icon, then Set up device, then New device and follow the in-app steps.
- If the Set up devices button is not on the screen, tap Get started, then Set up new devices.
- Tap Create another home, then Next. Provide a home nickname (address is optional).
- Follow the remaining steps in the app.
- You can opt out of some settings, like Voice match or Personal results. These can be changed later.
Updating Your Google Home Mini's Firmware
- Ensure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or account as your Google Home.
- Open the Google Home app.
- Select your device.
- Tap Settings at the top right.
- Scroll to the bottom and find Cast firmware version. Verify if itâs the latest version.
Restarting Your Google Home Mini
- Unplug the device or the power adapter from the power outlet, then plug it back in.
- If your device has removable batteries, remove and reinsert them to restart.
Resetting Your Google Home Mini
- Press and hold the factory reset button below the power cord on the bottom of the Home Mini.
- Look for a circle etched into the base. After 5 seconds, the device will start the reset process.
- Continue holding for about 10 seconds more until you hear a sound confirming the reset.
