Listed below are some of the helpful guides you can follow if you need to troubleshoot your Ricoh MP C2504/MP, C3004/MP, or C2504 JPN Printer.
Wired connection
- Plug the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the back of the printer.
- Connect the other end of the cable to the printer's network, such as the hub.
- Check the LEDs on the Ethernet port.
- Orange - when 100BASE-TX is operating.
- Green - when 10BASE-T is operating.
Wireless connection
- On the main screen, press the User Tools/Counter key, then press System Settings on the main screen.
- On the system settings option, go to Interface Settings tab.
- Static IPv4 Address
- Tap Change Machine IPv4 Address.
- To manually set the IPv4, specify must be selected
- Select Machine IPv4 Address, then change.
- Manually enter IPv4 address.
- Manually enter subnet mask for network
- Press OK.
- Dynamic IPv4 Address
- Tap Change Machine IPv4 Address.
- Tap Auto-Obtain DHCP (IP address will be automatically provided by the router/server).
- Press OK.
- Static IPv4 Address
- Once you are done with the printer, go to your computer.
- Go to Add a printer.
- Once the printer is connected to the same network, it should appear on the list of devices that the computer detects.
- Select the device that has the IP address we have assigned earlier.
- Click Next to proceed and install the correct driver for the printer.
- Click OK.
Wireless LAN security
Specify the encryption of the Wireless LAN. By default it is turned off.
- WEP - enter a WEP key (using either 10 hexadecimal characters or 5 ASCII characters).
- WPA-2 - select either WPA2-PSK or WPA2. Enter the pre-shared key (PSK) of 8β63 characters in ASCII code (Network/Device password).
To secure your printer, check the settings below:
Setting up Administrator Email for the printer
- Press File Transfer in System Settings.
- Press Administrator's Email Address, then specify the administrator's email address of the machine (User Email Address).
Changing the administrator's login user name and password
- Before you can update the administrator's username and password you must login with administrator privilege (up to 4 sharing account can be installed on the device).
- Press Home at the bottom of the screen.
- Swipe the screen to the left, then press User Tools.
- Press Machine Features.
- Press Login.
- Enter the admin's username and password. By Default the password is (blank), and the user name is "Admin".
- To Update the default username and password go to System Settings.
- Open Administrator Tools, then tap Next.
- Press Program/Change Administrator. There should be 4 options for an administrator account, you should be able to specify now which administrator account you want to register.
- Press Change for "Login User Name and "Login Password", then press OK
- Enter the login password for confirmation again, then press OK.
- Press Change for "Encryption Password".
- Enter the encryption password, then press OK.
- Enter the encryption password for confirmation again, then press OK.
Managing the Document folder/Document server
Files can be stored by any user who is allowed to use Document Server, copy function, scanner function, fax function or printer function.
Machine failure can result in data loss. Important data stored on the hard disk should be backed up. The manufacturer shall not be responsible for any damage that might result from the loss of data.
- Press Store File.
- Enter a filename, username, or password.
- Press OK, then place the file to be scanned or copied.
- Start Scan.
Managing the stored files
Specifying who is allowed to access stored files on the computer helps protect the document from unauthorized access.
- Press User tools on the initial settings of the printer.
- Open Address Book Management.
- Select the user to be modified, then press Protection.
- Go to Protect files, then press Permissions for Users/Groups: Program/Change/Delete.
- Select users/group to register
- Select the user to whom you want to assign access permission, select the permission, then press OK.
Specifying passwords for stored files
Passwords can be set by the owner or the Administrator.
- Open user tools, then go to Document Server.
- Select the file, the press change password.
- Enter the password twice for confirmation.
- Press OK to finish.
Menu Protect
Menu Protect allows you to limit user permission to access the settings in the User Tools menu, Menu Protect can be set in all of the function of the machine. Log in as the machine administrator from the control panel.
- Copy Funtion
- Press Copier/Document Server Features.
- Press Administrator Tools.
- Press Menu Protect, then Select the protection level (Level 2 to impose a stricter restrictions. For more information click here.
- Fax Function
- Press FAX Features.
- Press Initial Settings.
- Press Menu Protect, then Select the protection level (Level 2 to impose a stricter restrictions. For more information click here.
- Printer Function
- Press Printer Features.
- Press Data Management.
- Press Menu Protect, then Select the protection level (Level 2 to impose a stricter restrictions. For more information click here.
- Scanner Funcation
- Press Scanner Features.
- Press Intitial Settings.
- Press Menu Protect, then Select the protection level (Level 2 to impose a stricter restrictions. For more information click here.
Downloading the firmware
- Visit the Ricoh Support & Downloads.
- Select your region and proceed with downloading the firmware.
Updating the firmware
- Open your browser. In the address bar, type your printer's IP address or hostname, then ENTER.
- Click Login, then enter the login username and password.
- Go to Device Management, then Configuration.
- Click Firmware Update under device settings.
- Click Browse, theb select the needed firmware.
Checking the firmware validity
When the machine starts up, this function is used to check if the firmware is valid. A verification error is displayed on the control panel if an error occurs.
Firmware validity can also be checked on Web Image Monitor.
Factory reset helps resolve stubborn issues or misconfigurations with the device. It helps clear the printer queue and possible data stored in the computer. It would restore the factory settings for a fresh start.
- Tap on the HOME/MENU icon at the bottom part of the main screen.
- Press the reset Home Information
- Press OK.
