There are 2 methods of connecting your smart devices to your printer with a wireless connection.
Using a wireless router
- Touch the printer HOME button.
- Swipe the screen left or right, then tap LAN settings.
- Tap Wireless LAN setup.
- Tap Cableless setup.
- Tap OK, then return to the application screen and proceed with the setup.
- You can change network settings such as the SSID and security protocol on the printer.
- Wi-Fi icon is displayed in the device's screen, you can connect the device to the printer using the wireless router.
Using an access point mode
- Touch the printer HOME button.
- Swipe the screen left or right, then tap LAN settings.
- Tap access point mode (The device now will be a hotspot, you will be able to view the printer’s SSID on the screen).
- You will need a password for the connection, tap on details to view your current password.
- On the smart device, view the SSID of the printer, then connect.
- When the connection between a device and a wireless router is completed, then (DC) is displayed on the printer’s screen.
You cannot establish a printer with wireless and wired connections at the same time.
Updating tbe printer’s LAN settings
- On Device setup, go to LAN Settings.
- Tap Other Settings.
Here you can update and change the following:
- Printer name
- TCP/IP settings - IPv4 or IPv6 settings
- WSD settings - lets you manage network scanning in Windows 10, Windows 8. x, Windows 7
- Bonjour settings - setting items for LAN using Bonjour for Mac OS.
- LPR protocol setting - enable/disable the LPR setting.
- PictBridge communication (DigiCam Connection) - setting items for printing from a PictBridge (Wireless LAN) compliant device.
- Wired LAN DRX setting
- Direct Connection settings
- Update SSID/password
Checking the firmware updates
Firmware updates can fix minor problems for printers or any other device. Printer firmware is the program installed in a printer to be able to do its operations and interact with a PC or other devices.
On Device setup go to firmware setup.
- Install update
- The firmware update takes about 4minutes to finish depending on your internet connection.
- When the download is done, the device should automatically reboot itself.
- Check current version
- You can check the current firmware version.
- Update notification setting
- When Yes is selected and the firmware update is available, the firmware update notification is displayed on the screen.
- DNS server setup
- Performs settings for a DNS server. Select Auto setup or Manual setup. If you select Manual setup, follow the display on the screen to perform settings.
- Proxy server setup
- Performs settings for a proxy server.
Downloading latest drivers
- Go to Canon Support.
- Provide the model of your Canon printer.
- Select Drivers & Download.
- Select the Drivers, Software, or Firmware tab depending on what you want to download.
- Select Download to save the file to your computer.
- Run the file.
NFC is a short-range wireless communication technology.
- For Canon printers, you need to download the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY application on your mobile device.
- Open the app, then select the photo or document that you want to print.
- Make sure that the device is place near the NYC marker on the printer.
- Once the app is ready you should be able to see the NYC notification on the lower right corner of the device
Factory reset helps resolve stubborn issues or misconfigurations with the device. It helps clear the printer queue and possible data stored in the computer. It would restore the factory settings for a fresh start.
- On the Main Screen, then go to setup.
- Tap Reset setting.
- Web service setup only - set the Web service settings back to the default.
- LAN settings only - set the LAN settings other than the administrator password back to the default.
- Settings only - set the settings such as the paper size or media type back to the default.
- Device info sending setting only - set only the device information sending settings back to the default.
- Reset all - set all settings you made to the machine back to the default. The administrator password specified for the machine is set to the default setting.
