There are 2 methods of connecting your smart devices to your printer with a wireless connection.
Using a Wireless connection
- On the HOME screen tap on the setup icon.
- Tap Wireless Setting.
- Tap Wireless Setup Wizard. The printer now should proceed with searching for available wireless networks.
- Select the name of your network, then enter the password.
- Tap OK.
- Wi-Fi icon is displayed in the device's screen, you can connect the device to the printer using the wireless router.
Using a Wi-Fi Direct
- On the HOME screen tap on the setup icon.
- Tap Wireless Setting.
- Choose your printer with Direct in its name. If prompted type the password β12345678β.
- Once connected, you should be able to print directly.
Configuring Printer Firewall
The firewall provides network-layer security on both IPv4 and IPv6 networks. The firewall provides simple control of IP addresses that are allowed access.
To create and use the firewall rules, follow the steps below:
The printer must be on a network and must have an IP address
- Open the embedded web server. Select Settings, then Firewall Rules.
- Click New. You should be able to customize or change rules.
- Firewall Priority
- Select the priority in which you want the rule to be used from the Rule Precedence list. The highest priority is 10, and the lowest priority is 1.
- Tap Apply.
- Reset Firewall - for any issues related to the network, you can try to reset the firewall settings if you have added any rules to it.

Updating Printer Information
You can only update the printer name once the printer has been installed successfully. You can update it using the computer or device to which it is connected.
- Checking Firware Updates
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Printer Information or Printer Status Report.
- Check for the firmware version number.

Updating directly on the printer
- On the Menu tap Settings.
- Tap Product Update or Check for Product Update.
- Tap OK.
Make sure the printer is ON and connected to the computer through your local network or USB cable.
- Go to HP customer support and identify the printer that you are using
- Type the printer number, then click Submit.
- Select the version, then change, and select the firmware to download.
- Once the download is finish, open the file to start the installation.
If a firmware section is not listed or an update is not currently available, you may be already using the latest version.
- Download and install the HP Smart app on your computer, smartphone, or tablet.
- Open the app, then tap your printer's name.
- Under settings, tap Advanced Settings.
- Click Tools or Web Services.
- Select Product Update.
Factory reset helps resolve stubborn issues or misconfigurations with the device. It helps clear the printer queue and possible data stored in the computer. It would restore the factory settings for a fresh start.
- On the Home Screen, tap Back, and Home twice.
- On the Engineering menu tap Service menu.
- Tap the right arrow twice, then look for Reset menu.
- Country/Language reset - reset the device language.
- Partial Reset - refresh the printer and clear unnecessary memory from the printer.
- Semi-Full Reset - clearsout all the custom setting from your printer and returns if to its default factory settings.
- Full Reset - set only the device information sending settings back to the default.
- Reset all - clear deep settings from your printer and any interruption on the reset process may render your printer unusable.
Only use this reset when all other procedure is not working.
