You see this error message when trying to update Windows 10 to Windows 11:
"Update error code 0x800f0986"
Why did this happen?
Your computer has missing system files or faulty update components.
How do I fix this?
Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter:
- Click the Start , then go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
- Under Recommended troubleshooting, choose Additional troubleshooters.
- Select Windows Update, then click on Run the troubleshooter.
