Improve your Android phone's performance by giving it a good cleanup. Follow these easy steps on how to use Trend Micro Mobile Security to get your device running like new.

Free up storage space

Without realizing it, your device might be storing dozens of data from unused apps, taking a lot of storage space. Remove those apps you no longer use.

  1. Open the Mobile Security app.
  2. Tap App Manager.
  3. Select the apps that you want to remove, then tap Uninstall.
  4. Tap OK.

TIP: Using the App Manager, you can also delete setup/installer files that you have already used. Just go to Setup Files tab, choose the unnecessary files, then tap Delete.

Tune up device

Gain more phone memory and extra battery life with just one click. Remove the unneeded and temporary files from your Android apps and browser histories using the App Stop feature.

Note that App Stop will only be accessible for Android versions 13 and below, in compliance with Google Play restrictions on terminating background processes, and it will be replaced by App Freeze. On Android 14 and above, only App Freeze will be available due to Google Play's policy limitations on killing background applications..

For Android 14 and Above

  1. Open the Mobile Security app.
  2. Tap App Freeze.
  3. Tap the Mobile Security needs permissions before you can use all of the App Freeze features message you see at the top.
  4. Tap the Allow Now.
  5. Turn on all permissions for Trend Micro Mobile Security. You will see a Permissions Allowed message after enabling all permissions.
  6. Choose the apps that you want to freeze from running, then tap Freeze.
  7. Wait for the App Freeze process to finish.

For Android 13 and below

  1. Open the Mobile Security app.
  2. Tap App Stop.
  3. Tap the Mobile Security needs permissions before you can use all of the App Stop features message you see at the top.
  4. Tap the Allow Now.
  5. Turn on all permissions for Trend Micro Mobile Security. You will see a Permissions Allowed message after enabling all permissions.
  6. Tap Stop Apps.
  7. Wait for the scan to finish, then tap App Freeze.
  8. Choose the applications you want to prevent from running in the background and displaying in-app notifications.

  9. TIP: Tap Add shortcut to home screen to create an App Stop shortcut for easier access.
