You see this warning when using Pay Guard in Mobile Security on your Android device:

Operating System Compromised

Why Am I Seeing This Warning?

This warning helps protect your sensitive information during financial or shopping activities. It may appear for the following reasons:

  • Outdated app version
You may be using an older version of Trend Micro Mobile Security that does not include the latest Pay Guard improvements. Recent updates enhanced the finance and shopping privacy scanner.
  • Rooted or custom Android OS
Devices running a rooted OS or custom ROM are detected as compromised because they bypass standard Android security controls.

How Do I Fix This Issue?

  1. Update Trend Micro Mobile Security:
    1. Open the Google Play Store.
    2. Tap your Google profile icon.
    3. Select Manage apps & device.
    4. Go to the Manage tab.
    5. Find Mobile Security & Antivirus.
    6. Tap Update.

After updating, restart the app and check if the warning is resolved.

  2. Check your Android OS:

If your device is rooted or running a custom OS, the warning will continue to appear. Trend Micro recommends using the default Android OS provided by the device manufacturer to restore full Pay Guard protection.

Still Seeing The Warning?

If the issue persists after updating the app and confirming your device is not rooted:

  1. Check and note your Android OS version.
  2. Contact Trend Micro Support and provide the OS version for further assistance.
