You see this error message when installing the Trend Micro program on Windows:

Why did this happen?

  • The installer should uninstall any conflicting third-party security software.
  • A conflicting software was not completely removed.

What should I do next?:

  1. Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.
  2. Type "appwiz.cpl" (without quotes) in the Run dialog box.
  3. Press Enter or click OK button.
  4. Click the third-party security software, then select Uninstall.
  5. Kindly carefully review and comply with the on-screen instructions.
  6. Restart computer.
  7. Please click on the Trend Micro installer once more to proceed with the installation.
