What is a RAR file?
Similar to ZIP, 7z, and ISO, a RAR file is a compressed file created using 7-Zip, a free, open-source file compression tool.
How to open a RAR file?
While most operating systems have a way to open or extract compressed files instantly, they don’t have a built-in option for RAR files. However, we can use unarchive tools to open this file type.

Open RAR files on your Windows
- Download and install the Unzip One for FREE.
- Once installed, open the app.
- Select Extract, then click Add Archives.
- Select the RAR file you want to extract. You can also drag the files directly to the console.
- Click Extract All, then select where you want to save the files.
