You may see a “Protection Expired” message in the Trend Micro main console even if your subscription is still active or was recently renewed through Best Buy.
Why Did This Happen?
A recent system update may cause a temporary synchronization issue between Best Buy’s subscription system and Trend Micro’s licensing service. When this occurs, the Trend Micro application may incorrectly display an expired protection status even though the subscription is active.
What Should I Do Next?
While our team is working on a fix, follow the steps below to confirm your subscription status and refresh the product license:
- Verify your subscription is active
- Sign in to your Best Buy account.
- Go to Account > Subscriptions and confirm that your Trend Micro subscription is active.
- Alternatively, check your Best Buy renewal confirmation email.
- Update Trend Micro Security
- Open the Trend Micro application.
- Click Check for Updates to ensure the latest updates are installed.
- Restart your computer after the update completes.
- Check the protection status
- Reopen Trend Micro.
- Confirm whether the protection status updates from “Protection Expired.”
- Contact Best Buy Support
- If the message persists, contact Best Buy Support to confirm that your subscription was successfully processed and activated.
- Contact Trend Micro Support
- If Best Buy confirms the subscription is active and the issue continues, contact Trend Micro Support for further assistance.
