Trend Micro VPN cannot be activated even though you have already purchased a subscription from the Microsoft Store. The app continues to prompt you to buy a license.
Why Did This Happen
This issue may occur due to one or more of the following:
- The Microsoft Store does not return the active subscription entitlement to Trend Micro VPN.
- The Microsoft account used to purchase the subscription is different from the account currently signed in to the Microsoft Store.
- The Microsoft Store license cache on the device is not fully synced.
How Do I Fix This
- Verify the Microsoft account used for the purchase
- Open the Microsoft Store app on your Windows device.
- Select the profile icon in the upper-right corner.
- Confirm that the signed‑in Microsoft account is the same account used to purchase the Trend Micro VPN subscription.
- If a different account is signed in:
- Sign out of the Microsoft Store.
- Sign back in using the account used for the purchase.
- Uninstall Trend Micro VPN, then install it again from the Microsoft Store.
- Open Trend Micro VPN and check if it activates successfully.
- Force the Microsoft Store license cache to sync
- Open the Microsoft Store app.
- Select Library in the lower-left corner.
- Click Get updates to refresh the local license cache.
- Close the Microsoft Store.
- Close and reopen Trend Micro VPN.
- Note: It may take several minutes after purchase for Microsoft Store licenses to sync completely.
