If Trend Micro VPN keeps crashing during setup on your Mac device, it may be caused by corrupted or inaccessible Keychain items from a previous Trend Micro VPN installation.
Why Did This Happen
This issue may occur when Keychain items from a previous Trend Micro VPN installation become corrupted or inaccessible, preventing the application from properly reading the required data during initialization.
How to Fix It
Clean up all Trend Micro VPN-related keychain items (including WireGuard entries, com.trendmicro.MAC.TMPWP* items and Trend Micro-related certificates).
- Go to Keychain Access
- Press ⌘ (Command) + Space on your keyboard.
- Type "Keychain Access", then press Enter.
- Check Keychain lock state
- Check all the items listed and make sure to remove all Trend Micro VPN related items.
- WireGuard related items
- Items starting with com.trendmicro.MAC.TMPWP
- Trend Micro–Related Certificates
- Reinstall Trend Micro VPN
Make sure the icon on the left sidebar next to "login" is open that means it’s unlocked and accessible.
Note: The certificate name may vary depending on the user’s environment. Some certificates may appear as random IDs. Click the item to verify whether it is related to Trend Micro VPN. In some cases, affected items may display a red “X” icon.
After removing all related items, try installing Trend Micro VPN again.
