Website Filter blocks access to unwanted and suspicious websites on your Mac.

Trend Micro maintains an extensive database of categorized websites to keep the Website Filter feature up-to-date as new sites appear on the web.

Turn ON Website Filter

  1. Open Trend Micro Antivirus.
  2. Click the Web tab.

    Main console

  3. Select the Website Filter tab.

    Click Web then Website Filter

  4. Click the lock icon to make changes.
    Type your Mac password, then click OK.

  5. Check the box beside Filter websites based on your selections below:

Select Filter Strength

  • Custom allows you to pick and choose all of the categories that you would like to block.
  • Minimal (Adult) only blocks websites that would help someone to circumvent proxy servers and web filtering systems, or make Internet activity anonymous or untraceable, including sites that provide tools for those purposes.
  • Low (Mature Teenager) marks these categories:
    • Erotic / Mature
    • Nudity
    • Pornography
    • Illegal Drugs
    • Illegal / Questionable
    • Violence / Hate / Racism
    • Hacking / Proxy Avoidance
    • Alcohol / Tobacco
    • Gambling
  • Medium (Teenager) marks categories already blocked in Low (Mature Teenager) and also includes:
    • Sex Education
    • Abortion
    • Cult / Occult
    • Gun Clubs / Hunting
    • Weapons / Military
    • Personals / Dating
    • Social Networking
    • Auctions
    • Gambling
  • High (Child) marks all categories on the list.

A more detailed description of what falls into a given category will appear when you click any item on the list.

Allow Website Access

Antivirus for Mac will never stop you from opening a page on the Trusted Websites list even when these pages are included in the categories you blocked.

This list can save up to 500 web addresses.

  1. Click the Trusted Websites... button.

  2. Check the box beside Always allow access to the websites listed below.

  3. Choose + to add a website, - to remove one, or Edit to change the website address.

    Add an asterisk * as a wildcard character to include all its related pages.

  4. Click Done.

Block Website Access

Antivirus for Mac will always prevent you from opening pages on the Blocked Websites list even when these pages are NOT included in the categories you blocked.

It can also save up to 500 web addresses.

  1. Click the Blocked Websites... button.

  2. Check the box beside Always block websites listed below.

  3. Choose + to add a website, - to remove one, or Edit to change the website address.
