You see this message when you update your Trend Micro program:
"Unable to install the update. Please try again."
Why Did This Happen?
Your computer may have a corrupted Trend Micro update file or a conflicting third-party security software.
How Do I Fix This?
Follow the steps below to apply a quick hotfix:
- Initiate the hotfix download by clicking the link below:
Ti_1780_win_en_for_UMH_1166_later_hfb0002.exe - Run the downloaded file Ti_1780_win_en_for_UMH_1166_later_hfb0002.exe
by double-clicking it. - Grant permission by clicking Yes in the User Account Control window.
- Complete the installation by following the on-screen instructions.
- Restart your device to apply changes.
- Try updating your Trend Micro program again.
Still seeing the same error message? Delete the corrupted update file using these steps:
- On your keyboard, press the Windows β + R keys at the same time.
- In the Open field, type supporttool.exe, then click OK. The Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit should open.
- Click (C) Uninstall tab.
- Click 2. Delete Now. This will delete the broken update file.
- Click Close.
- Update the program again.
If the error still appears after doing the steps above, remove any conflicting software on your computer.
