Real-Time Scan
Trend Micro keeps your computer protected in real-time, so you do not need to start a scan to remove malicious software.
This scans files and folders downloaded or copied on the computer. It also scans websites as soon as you open them or clicked on a link.
Manual Scan
If your computer performs poorly due to a possible infection, you can run a scan at any time.
This scans the most commonly accessed files and folders. You can choose from three types of scans:
- Quick Scan: Scans only the places where threats commonly hide, like:
- Executable files that are currently running
- Programs included on the startup items or programs that will load automatically when you turn on the computer
- Shortcut icons on the Desktop and website shortcuts
- Hosts files
- Browser settings such as homepage and search engines
- Full Scan: Scans the entire computer and external drives, but not network drives. It usually takes longer depending on the number of files you have.
- Custom Scan: Scans everything in the folders that you select.
Scheduled Scan
Select Conduct a scheduled scan of the computer to run a scan for hidden threats, then choose how you want it done:
- Smart Schedule: Trend Micro will choose the most suitable time to scan your computer, depending on your recent computer usage.
- Set a specific schedule: Choose exactly what time the scan can begin and what type of scan you prefer (Quick Scan or Full Scan).
