Your Windows computer hangs or stops at Now Activating when installing the Trend Micro program.

Why did this happen?

The installer cannot connect to our Trend Micro server to do a license check.

How do I fix this?

Flushing the DNS, or Domain Name System, clears any IP addresses or other DNS records from your cache. It helps resolve security and internet connectivity:

  1. Press Windows ⊞ and R keys at the same time to open Run.
  2. In the Open field, type cmd, then click OK.
  3. When the User Account Control window appears, click Yes. This will open Command Prompt.
  4. Type ipconfig /flushdns on the Command Prompt window, then press ENTER.

    ipconfig /flushdns

  5. Close the Command Prompt window when you see a "Successfully flushed" message.
  6. Try to install the program again.
