You see this error message while using Trend Micro Password Manager in Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge:

"The service should start working again later"

Why is this happening?

  • Your computer is connected via proxy server.
  • Password Manager encountered an issue with the web browser.

What should I do next?

If you are using a proxy server, you need to disable the proxy settings so you can use Trend Micro Password Manager:

  1. On your keyboard, press the Windows + R keys to open the Run.
  2. In the Open field, type inetcpl.cpl, then click OK. This will open the Internet Options window .
  3. Click Connections, then click LAN settings.
  4. Uncheck Use a proxy server for your LAN.
  5. Click OK twice.


If you still see the error message or if you are not using a proxy server, you need to reinstall the Trend Micro Password Manager extension:

  1. Remove Password Manager Extension:
    Expand All
    Remove from Google Chrome
    Remove from Mozilla Firefox
    Remove from Microsoft Edge
  2. Add Password Manager Extension:
    Expand All
    Add on Google Chrome
    Add on Mozilla Firefox
    Add on Microsoft Edge
