Due to the rise of Tech Support scams, it is recommended to limit remote access connections to your devices using the Remote Access Protection feature of your Home Network Security.

Tech Support Scam refers to fraud activity, in which the scammer claims to offer legitimate technical support service through phone call. In many cases, the scammers attempt to scare the victim with threats of data loss, malware infection, and remote access to the computer.


How do I enable Remote Access Protection?

  1. On your device, open Home Network Security app.
  2. Tap the Menu icon.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Under NETWORK AND SECURITY, tap Access Control, then tap Remote Access Protection.
  5. Turn on Block Remote Access.

How do I allow Remote Connection Software for my device?

Make sure that the remote connection software is from a legitimate technical support company.

  1. On your device, open Home Network Security app.
  2. Tap the Menu icon.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Under NETWORK AND SECURITY, tap Access Control, then tap Remote Access Protection.
  5. Tap Approved List.
  6. Tap Add Program.
  7. Select a program from the list, then tap the + icon next to the device you want to provide remote access permission.
  8. Tap Done to save the changes.
