You see this error code while activating Trend Micro Antivirus on your Mac:

An error occured during the transfer of your activation information. Mention error code 0x9600018.

Another error notification may also appear along with the error message:

You have entered invalid information. Before activation, Trend Micro Antivirus for Mac cannot protect you against the latest security threats.

Why did this happen?

Trend Micro activation won't proceed because the region settings on your Mac are not set to the United States.

How do I fix this?

Change the region to United States:

  1. Go to > System Preferences > Language & Region.
  2. Change the country to United States.
  3. Open Spotlight.
  4. Type Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit.
  5. On the General tab, click Stop All Components.
  6. Wait for about ten (10) seconds, then click Start All Components.
  7. Try activating your Antivirus for Mac again.
