Solution
Trend Micro has addressed these vulnerabilities on Antivirus for Mac 2019 via a patch that is available now through the product’s automatic ActiveUpdate (AU) feature for all products listed above. Customers who receive regular automatic updates from the Internet should have already received the update.
Customers who have not yet received the update can manually click Update Now to ensure they have the latest build.
Please note that the vulnerability is not present in the latest version of the product - Trend Micro Antivirus for Mac 2020 (v10). It is recommended that customers upgrade to the latest version to ensure the latest protection. You may obtain the latest version (2020 v10) here.
Vulnerability Details
A privilege escalation vulnerability in Trend Micro Antivirus for Mac 2019 (v9.0.1379 and below) could potentially allow an attacker to create a symbolic link to a target file and modify it.
Trend Micro has received no reports nor is aware of any actual attacks against the affected product related to this vulnerability at this time.
