How Email Defender Works in Google Chrome
Email Defender uses AI technology to detect fake messages by understanding the topic and intention of scam emails, and it warns you when such emails are found. You can then confidently delete them.
Steps to Enable Email Defender in Google Chrome
- Ensure the Trend Micro Security Extension is installed and active.
- Open Google Chrome.
- Log in to your Gmail, Outlook, or Yahoo Mail. A pop-up will appear.
- Click Protect Your Email Now.
- Read the License Agreement, then choose Agree and Turn On.
You will see a message confirmingEmail Defender is ON
.
Scanning Emails in Google Chrome
- Open an email. Email Defender will scan its content. If something suspicious is detected, you will see pop-ups such as:
Malicious Link Detected
Scam Email Detected
Phishing Link Detected
- Click View Details to get more information about the detected threat.
Email Defender will provide recommendations based on the detection results to help you stay safe online.
Reporting False Detections in Google Chrome
If Email Defender mistakenly flags a non-malicious email, you can report it to help improve its AI technology.
- Click Report scan result.
- Trend Micro will review and analyze the reported error.
Disabling Email Defender in Google Chrome
To turn off Email Defender, select it again in the Trend Micro Security Extension.
