Want to block scams, phishing sites, and unsafe links while you browse? The Trend Micro Security extension for Google Chrome checks websites in real time and warns you before you click anything risky. Here's how to add it in just a few minutes.
What You Need
- Google Chrome installed on your computer
- A stable internet connection
- A Trend Micro account (you'll sign in to activate)
- An active Trend Micro subscription
Get Trend Micro Security from the Chrome Web Store

Open the Chrome Web Store page for the extension: Trend Micro Security for Google Chrome.
🔔 Important Note: If you bought your subscription from Best Buy, use this link instead:
Trend Micro Security (Best Buy) for Google Chrome.
Using the wrong link can cause activation issues later. - Click Add to Chrome, then click Add Extension in the confirmation pop-up. Wait a few seconds for the install to finish.
- Open the Extensions menu (the puzzle-piece icon in Chrome's toolbar), find Trend Micro Security, and click the Pin icon so it stays visible.
- Review the Privacy & Personal Data Collection Disclosure, then click Continue.
- Read the Trend Micro License Agreement, then click Accept and Start.
- Sign in with your TrendLife account to activate your license.
- Once you see the Trend Micro Security icon turn green in your toolbar, you're all set! Your browsing is now protected.
Already Have Trend Micro Security Installed?
If you already have Trend Micro Maximum, Premium, Internet, or Antivirus+ Security on your computer, you can add the extension directly from the app:
- Open your Trend Micro Security app.
- Go to the Privacy tab and click Configure under Social Networking Protection.
- Click Install under the Google Chrome option.
Accidentally Removed the Extension?
You can reinstall it through your Trend Micro Account:
- Go to the TrendLife Account Portal and sign in.
- Select the Download tab and click Download to this Device under Trend Micro Security.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to finish the installation.
Troubleshooting
If the "Add to Chrome" button is missing or grayed out:
Your Chrome browser may be out of date. Update Chrome (Settings > About Chrome), restart it, and try again.
If the extension installs but doesn't appear in your toolbar:
Click the Extensions (puzzle-piece) icon and pin Trend Micro Security. If it's not in the list, remove and reinstall it from the Chrome Web Store.
If you can't sign in or activate the license:
Double-check that you're using the same email tied to your Trend Micro subscription. If you bought from Best Buy, make sure you installed from the Best Buy link in step 1.
