After running a scan using Trend Micro Antivirus One, you see this message below:
Why did this happen?
Antivirus One is unable to automatically delete the Browser Hijacker from your computer due to App Sandboxing implemented on App Store.
What should I do next?
You need to remove it manually using Manual Delete:
- From the Scan Results page, click Manual delete.
- The Profiles window will appear and you will see the malicious configuration profile installed on your computer.
Configuration profiles let you standardize settings for Mac computers. It is commonly used by IT admins for company owned devices.
When it comes to home users, adware and browser hijacker are using these configuration profiles to prevent users from removing malicious programs from the computer. This also prevents the user from changing the malicious behavior in the browserβs settings.
- Click the button on the lower left to remove it.
- Click Remove to delete the unknown malicious profile.
- Type your Mac username and password to confirm.
