Prevent Automatic Upgrades in Trend Micro on Windows
- First, make sure you're logged onto your computer using an account with administrator privileges.
- Next, locate your activation code. You'll need this for the following steps.
- Now, it's time to download the installer based on your activation code and your preferred program version. Check your activation code; if it starts with:
- "X," download Maximum Security version 17.7 here.
- "P," download Internet Security version 17.7 here.
- "A," download Antivirus+ Security version 17.7 here.
- If you bought it through Best Buy, download Internet Security version 17.7 here.
- If it is included with your Internet Service Provider:
- If it starts with "TXEF," download Maximum Security version 17.7 here.
- If it starts with "TOEF," download Internet Security version 17.7 here.
- If it starts with "TAEF," download Antivirus+ Security version 17.7 here.
- Additionally, download the Disable Force Upgrade Tool here.
- Now, temporarily turn OFF your internet connection.
- If you're using a wired connection, unplug the LAN cable from your computer.
- For wireless connections, click the Wi-Fi icon on the system tray, then click Disconnect.
- Double-click the Trend Micro installer you downloaded in STEP 3 to run it. Wait for the installation to finish.
- Right-click Ti_all_win_en_DisableForceUpgrade_hfb0001.exe you downloaded in STEP 4, then select Run as administrator. Wait for the installation to finish.
- After the installation is complete, restart your computer.
- Turn your internet connection back ON.
- If you're using a wired connection, plug in the LAN cable from your computer.
- For wireless connections, click the Wi-Fi icon on the system tray, then click Connect.
- Finally, open Trend Micro, and click Activate Now.
