Web Guard allows you to filter content when you are using your preferred browser.

Mobile Security for Android uses a local Virtual Private Network (VPN) on your device with almost no impact to the network speed. It uses a local analyzer to filter all network traffic from your device when using the Trend Micro VPN. You will see a key icon on your device's status bar when Web Guard is enabled.

  • Web Guard is the new name of Mobile Security's Safe Surfing feature.
  • To use other VPN services, you need to disable Web Guard. Manually enable Web Guard when local VPN fails to enable automatically.

Enable Trend Micro Web Guard

  1. On your Android device, open Mobile Security app.
  2. Tap Web Guard.
  3. Tap on the check icon to enable or disable the feature.

Configure Protection Level

This enables you to limit which websites your kids may visit depending on their age as well as prevent specific categories of websites from opening.

  1. On the Web Guard page, tap Protection Level.
  2. Select from the following options:
    • Low – Blocks only sites confirmed as fraudulent or dangerous.
    • Normal – Provides balanced protection without blocking minor risks.
    • High – Blocks sites showing any signs of fraud or malicious software.

Configure Supported Apps

Protect your apps from suspicious links by adding them to the list of Supported Apps. Put a checkmark beside the apps you wish to add protection.

Supported Apps are checked by default.


Turn ON/OFF VPN Supported Apps

  1. On the Web Guard page, tap on VPN Supported Apps.
  2. Select the Apps you want to protect.

Add Approved/Blocked Websites

  1. On your Android device, open Mobile Security app.
  2. On the main screen, tap Web Guard.
  3. Tap Approved List / Blocked List.
  4. Tap Add.

For more flexibility, use the asterisk (*) as a wildcard character:

  • http://*.trendmicro.com/*
  • http://*.Facebook.com/*

View Web Guard History

  1. On your Android device, open Mobile Security app.
  2. On the main screen, tap Web Guard.
  3. Tap Exceptions & History tab.
  4. Tap History.
