What is GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)?
The European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the most important change in data privacy regulation in 20 years. It replaces the Data Protection Directive 95/46/EC and was designed to harmonize data privacy laws across Europe, to protect and empower all European citizens’ data privacy and to reshape the way organizations across the region approach data privacy.
The aim of the GDPR is to protect all EU citizens from privacy and data breaches in an increasingly data-driven world that is vastly different from the time in which the 1995 directive was established. Although the key principles of data privacy still hold true to the previous directive, many changes have been proposed to the regulatory policies. You can find more information about GDPR here.
Is GDPR only applicable in Europe?
At this time, we are only processing requests for residents and citizens of the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland, in accordance with EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Countries that belong to the EEA include Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and United Kingdom.
