Why did this happen?
Trend Micro Home Network Security alerted you to a recent Ubiquiti data leak.
What caused the data leak?
According to Ubiquiti, a "third party" cloud provider that hosts some of its information technology systems was accessed by an unauthorized user. However, there were no indications of unauthorized activity concerning any user account.
What should I do next?
While there is no evidence of unauthorized activity to any database that hold Ubiquiti’s customer data, it is recommended to take the following precautionary measures to reduce the possibility of a third party using your account due to the data leak:
- Change your Ubiquiti account password.
- Sign in to account.ui.com.
- Click Security, then click Change Password.
- Fill in the required fields, then click Confirm.
- Change your password on other websites that use the same username and/or password.
- Enable Two-Factor Authentication on your Ubiquiti account. You can follow Ubiquiti’s guide here.
