Trend Micro Pay Guard Keeps Opening New Tabs

When accessing a website using Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome, Trend Micro Pay Guard constantly opens multiple tabs with the same URL/address.

Why Did This Happen?

Some components of the Pay Guard feature are out of date or not working.

How Do I Fix It?

Update Trend Micro to its latest program version:

1. Right-click the Trend Micro icon in the taskbar notification area, then select Check for Program Updates.

   If you cannot see it, click the Show hidden icons arrow ^ next to the notification area.

   The About Your Software window will appear and check for available updates.

2. Click Close after seeing Components are up-to-date.

If updating the program didn't fix the issue, check for and remove duplicate website links:

1. Open Trend Micro Security.
2. Click Privacy.
3. Click Configure on Pay Guard.
4. Check for duplicate website links under Protected Website List.
5. Select the duplicate website link and click the X Remove button.

It Still Opens New Tabs

Apply this Trend Micro hotfix:

1. Log onto your computer using an account with administrator privileges.
2. Download the hotfix here.
3. Double-click the downloaded file: Ti_1780_win_en_uiProtectedBrowser_hfb1151.exe.
4. Follow the prompts to install the hotfix.
5. Restart your computer to apply the changes.
