Protect yourself from websites that transmit malicious software or online support scams or fraud on Mac with Web Threat Protection.
Trend Micro maintains an extensive database of categorized websites to keep the Web Threat Protection feature up-to-date as new sites appear on the web.
Turn ON Web Threat Protection
- Open Trend Micro Antivirus.
- Click the Web tab.
- Select the Web Threat Protection tab.
- Click the lock icon to make changes.
Type your Mac password, then click OK. - Check the box beside Detect Web Threats.
Set Protection Strength
Adjust the slider to control how Trend Micro detects threats in websites.
- High
Detects threats in all websites that have poor reputation. - Normal
Strikes an effective balance between security and accuracy. This is the default setting. - Low
Less strict rules and may not detect untested websites.
Enable Toolbar on Web Browser
Check the box beside Enable Toolbar on Web Browser to let the Trend Micro Toolbar warn you about any security risks associated with the websites you try to visit.
Click the Advanced Settings... button to access Rate links on web pages and Rate links on mouseover settings.
Allow Website Access Permanently
Specify which websites your Antivirus for Mac should NEVER block.
This list can save up to 500 web addresses.
- Click the Trusted Websites... button.
- Check the box beside Always allow access to the websites listed below.
- Choose + to add a website, - to remove one, or Edit to change the website address.
Add an asterisk * as a wildcard character to include all its related pages.
- Click Done.
Block Website Access Permanently
Specify which websites your Antivirus for Mac should ALWAYS block.
It can also save up to 500 web addresses.
- Click the Blocked Websites... button.
- Check the box beside Always block websites listed below.
- Choose + to add a website, - to remove one, or Edit to change the website address.
Add an asterisk * as a wildcard character to include all its related pages.
- Click Done.
