An adware displays advertising content or fake virus notifications on your browsers, often in a manner or context that you may unexpectedly and unwantedly encounter. Some adware can also collect your browsing information, like the sites you visited, and send the information to their remote server on the Internet. They use this for marketing purposes.

How do I get infected?

  • When you visit unreputable sites.
  • When you download infected files.
  • When your security and antivirus programs are outdated.
  • When you unknowingly accepted and installed a suspicious application.

How do I get rid of it?

  1. Uninstall the adware:
    1. Click the Start ⊞, then go to Settings > Apps > Apps & Features. You can also access it via the shortcut button below:

      Windows Apps & Features

    2. Look for any suspicious application you find on the list, then click Remove or Uninstall.
  2. Reset web browser settings to remove alterations the adware did on your web browsers.
  3. Delete web browser cache and cookies to get rid of remaining files the adware saved on your computer.

I have Trend Micro Security installed

Make sure to add the Trend Micro Toolbar on your browsers to have protection against adware.

I am not yet a Trend Micro user

Add Trend Micro AdBlock One - a FREE browser extension for your Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Opera to stop seeing annoying ads and pop-ups while browsing the Internet.
