Why Does This Happen?

Old or leftover Trend Micro files on your computer can prevent a new installation from completing. This often happens if a previous version of Trend Micro wasn't fully uninstalled, or if an earlier installation attempt was interrupted. The fix is to remove those leftover files so the installer can start fresh.

How to Fix It

Follow these steps to clear the old files and finish your installation:

  1. Download and run the Trend Micro Remnant File Remover Tool.
This free tool finds and removes leftover Trend Micro files automatically.
👉 Get the Trend Micro Remnant File Remover Tool
  2. Restart your computer when prompted.
This step is important — the removal isn't complete until you restart.
  3. Run the Trend Micro installer again.

Once installation completes, open Trend Micro Security and confirm the status shows Protected. If it does, you're all set! ✅
