In this guide, we'll show you how to disable these automatic upgrades, allowing you to stick with your current Trend Micro program version.

Prevent Automatic Upgrades in Trend Micro on Windows

  1. First, make sure you're logged onto your computer using an account with administrator privileges.
  2. Next, locate your activation code. You'll need this for the following steps.
  3. Now, it's time to download the installer based on your activation code and your preferred program version. Check your activation code; if it starts with:
  4. Additionally, download the Disable Force Upgrade Tool here.
  5. Now, temporarily turn OFF your internet connection.
    • If you're using a wired connection, unplug the LAN cable from your computer.
    • For wireless connections, click the Wi-Fi icon on the system tray, then click Disconnect.
  6. Double-click the Trend Micro installer you downloaded in STEP 3 to run it. Wait for the installation to finish.
  7. Right-click Ti_all_win_en_DisableForceUpgrade_hfb0001.exe you downloaded in STEP 4, then select Run as administrator. Wait for the installation to finish.
  8. After the installation is complete, restart your computer.
  9. Turn your internet connection back ON.
    • If you're using a wired connection, plug in the LAN cable from your computer.
    • For wireless connections, click the Wi-Fi icon on the system tray, then click Connect.
  10. Finally, open Trend Micro, and click Activate Now.
