You see this notification pop up:
"Open Port"
Why did this happen?
An open port in your network was detected.
What are its risks?
A service called port is used to allow network communication for internet connected devices.
This port is like a door or hole and can be used as an entry point when sending and receiving data between the communication sources and the communication destination.
However, if there is a vulnerability in the Internet-connected devices, an unsecured setting or weak configuration can lead to unauthorized access that exploits this open port.
What should I do next?
- Stop the unnecessary service (Open Port) or do appropriate access management.
- Close the following ports if you are not using it:
- FTP 21/TCP
- SSH 22/TCP
- TELNET 23/TCP
- RPC 135/TCP
- NETBIOS 137/TCP
- NETBIOS 138/TCP
- NETBIOS 139/TCP
- MYSQL 3306/TCP
- SMB 445/TCP
- RDP 3389/TCP
- VNC 5900/TCP
You may check your router's manual or support website for the router and firewall configurations or contact the router vendor for assistance.
- Update your devices to its latest firmware. Show me how.
- Set a strong password on devices with open ports:
- Create a password with at least 8 characters.
- Use uppercase, and lowercase letters.
- Use a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols.
- Disconnect the device from your network if you are not using this device anymore.
