You see this notification pop up:
"Open Port [Remote Control]"
Why did this happen?
An open port for Remote Control is detected in your network.
What are its risks?
- A vulnerability in the Internet-connected devices, and unsecure setting or weak configuration can cause unauthorized access that can exploit, and compromise this open port.
- Remote Desktop Protocol is used to control another computer over a network connection. This can also be used by attackers to remotely control the infected devices on your network.
- Remote control tools are also commonly used for Technical Support Scams.
What should I do next?
- Always make sure the router device firmware is updated. Show me how.
- If there is a possibility of a technical support scam with a suspicious remote control tool, we recommend that you contact our Technical Support. Take note of the reference number that will be given to you.
- Disconnect the remote connection, and uninstall the remote control program if you are not using it.
- Set a strong password on your device with Remote Desktop Protocol with the following qualifications:
- Create a password with at least 8 characters
- Use uppercase, and lowercase letters
- Use a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols
