You see this warning message when Trend Micro scans your home network:

You are connected to a public network. Connect to your home network to find devices or add a device.

Why did this happen?

The wireless network you connected is public and meets any of these conditions:

  • The Wi-Fi name is public and visible to everyone.
  • The Wi-Fi connection has no password or it does not require a password to connect.
  • The router device is used for an enterprise connection.
  • The domain network used is for an enterprise setup.

If you are connected to a public network, whatever you do online could also be visible to others. They could see what websites you are visiting, read your emails, or see passwords you enter.

What should I do next?

Connect your computer to a home network or manually add a device to protect.
