You see this error when activating your program:
Why did this happen?
- The retail store has not yet activated the serial number on their end.
- The Trend Micro server rejects the communication because the serial number does not match the installer.
How do I fix this?
Check the serial number format, then download the correct installer where you bought the program.

- If it starts with an X, download the Maximum Security installer.
- If it starts with a P, download the Internet Security installer.
- If it starts with an A, download the Antivirus+ Security installer.
- If it starts with a M, download the Antivirus for Mac installer.
Best Buy Purchases
- If it starts with a TO or TA, download the Internet Security installer.
- If it starts with a TC, download the Antivirus for Mac installer.
Availed from an Internet Service Provider
- If it starts with an TXEF, download the Maximum Security 64-bit or Maximum Security 32-bit.
- If it starts with TOEF, download the Internet Security 64-bit or Internet Security 32-bit.
- If it starts with TAEF, download the Antivirus+ Security 64-bit or Antivirus+ Security 32-bit.
