How to use Mute Mode (Trend Micro Security for Windows)

Mute Mode temporarily stops non-critical notifications while you are doing an important task. It also automatically stops non-critical notification when the PC is in full screen mode.
When Mute Mode is enabled, automatically or manually, the system tray icon will look like this:

Disabled Notifications when Mute Mode is turned ON
- Windows Update, if enabled
- Detected threats and no further action are needed from you
- Monthly Report
- Popup message about Folder Shield settings
- Notification about your license and subscription
- Boot up time optimization popup
- Firewall Booster popup, if enabled
- WiFi Advisor popup, if enabled
- Data Theft Prevention popup, if set up
- Trend Micro toolbar notification
- Password Manager popup
Set up Mute Mode automatically
By default, Mute Mode is automatically enabled whenever you run a program in full screen. It disables Mute Mode automatically when you exit full screen, too.
- Open the main console:
- Double-click the Trend Micro
icon on your desktop.
- Double-click the Trend Micro
icon on your system tray.
- Click Device.

- Beside Mute Mode, click on Configure.

- After reading the introduction page, click OK.

- Tick the Start Automatic Mute Mode while in full-screen mode.
- Click OK.

Set up Mute Mode manually
- Open the main console:
- Double-click the Trend Micro
icon on your desktop.
- Double-click the Trend Micro
icon on your system tray.
- Click Device.

- Beside Mute Mode, click on Configure.

- After reading the introduction page, click OK.

- In Start Manual Mute Mode from now for, select how long you want Mute Mode to run.
- Click OK.

The maximum number of hours to set Mute Mode is only 24 hours. Beyond that, Mute Mode will be automatically turned off.
Start Mute Mode
- Right-click the Trend Micro
icon on your system tray.
- Click Start Mute Mode.

- To disable Mute mode, click Start Mute Mode again.

Add programs in the Terminate Program List
Trend Micro Security can stop programs running automatically whenever Mute Mode is enabled.
Add the program in the Terminate Program List.
- Open the main console:
- Double-click the Trend Micro
icon on your desktop.
- Double-click the Trend Micro
icon on your system tray.
- Click Device.

- Beside Mute Mode, click Configure.

- After reading the introduction page, click OK.

- Select which mode you want the programs to close under Terminate programs while in.
- Click OK.

- Click Add and select from the list of apps from the Mute Mode wizard.

- This will show all programs that are listed in the Start Menu. If you can't find the program, click Browse and go to the location of the program's executable file.

- Click OK twice to save the changes.
You can also remove the programs you have previously added in the list by doing the following:
- Tick the box beside the program name. You can select multiple programs from the list.
- After selecting the program/s to remove, click Remove.
- Click OK.
