Microsoft has announced that all official support for the Windows 8 Operating System has ended last January 12, 2016, which includes all bug fixes and vulnerability patches. After January 12, any new vulnerability that may be discovered or targeted at Windows 8 will not be addressed by Microsoft and may be of concern to users, especially those who have not yet upgraded to the latest supported OS.

According to Microsoft, to take advantage of the latest hardware capabilities, they recommend moving to a new PC with Windows 11. As an alternative, compatible Windows 8 PCs can be upgraded by purchasing and installing a full version of the software.
