If you're trying to download Trend Micro Security on Windows and you see the error "Unable to download the file. Make sure the computer has a working internet connection before trying again," don't worry — this is usually easy to fix by using a different download method. Follow the steps below to get your installer downloaded successfully.


How to Fix This

Try one of the two download options below. We recommend starting with Option A (sign in to your Trend Micro Account) since it automatically detects the right installer for you.

Option A — Download from Your Trend Micro Account (Recommended)

  1. Go to account.trendmicro.com.
  2. Click Sign In.
  3. Enter your email address and sign in.
  4. Click the Downloads tab.
  5. Click Download under your product (for example, Maximum Security).
  6. Click Download to This Device.

Option B — Download from the Trend Micro Downloads Page

  1. Visit the Trend Micro Downloads Page.
  2. Select your product and click Download.

Run the Installer

Once the file has downloaded, complete the installation:

  1. Locate the downloaded installer file (usually in your Downloads folder).
  2. Right-click the installer file and select Run as administrator.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.

When installation finishes and the console shows Protected, you're all set! ✅
