The quick or full scan of your Trend Micro program hangs or stops at a certain percentage. Nothing happens when you click Stop and you cannot close the scan window.

The issue happens when the component handling the scanning process failed or stopped working.

Temporarily Disable Trend Micro Security

Turn off Trend Micro
  1. Right-click the Trend Micro icon from the System Tray.

    If you do not see the Trend Micro icon from the System Tray, click the arrow button to show the rest of the icons.

  2. Select Exit.
  3. Wait for Trend Micro's System Tray icon to disappear. Once the icon disappears, Trend Micro is now disabled.
  4. Wait for 30 seconds.
Enable Trend Micro Security
  1. open your Trend Micro Security, double-click the Trend Micro icon on your desktop or on your system tray.

    Windows 8 Desktop

  2. Run a scan.
